Jack Nagel -
Jack Nagel brings a wealth of musical expertise and passion to his role as the newest member of the strings faculty at Alamo Heights. A distinguished graduate of the University of North Texas, Mr. Nagel graduated summa cum laude with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Trumpet Performance and Music Education in Band and Orchestra. Under the leadership of renowned mentors, Dr. Elizabeth Chappell, Professor John Holt, and Dr. Daniel Cook, he honed his craft in strings education, trumpet performance, and conducting.
During his tenure at UNT, Mr. Nagel immersed himself in a diverse range of musical experiences, showcasing his talents in various ensembles including the UNT Strings Project, Lab Orchestra, Brass Band, Wind Ensemble, Lab Jazz Bands, and both classical and contemporary composition recitals. Guided by Professor Caleb Hudson, his trumpet ensemble reached the quarterfinals in the National Trumpet Competition and won second prize in the George Papich Chamber Competition.
Mr. Nagel maintains professional memberships in organizations including the Texas Music Educators Association and Mu Phi Epsilon professional music fraternity. He regularly participates in professional development opportunities, such as the University of North Texas Conductor’s Collegium and Texas Music Educators Association Conference.
Mr. Nagel has participated in many extracurricular commitments as a teacher or performer in a variety of ensembles including the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, Ozark Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Dallas Brass Band, Mandarins Drum and Bugle Corps, and the North Central Texas College Winds. He currently plays repiano cornet in the San Antonio Brass Band, which competes annually at the North American Brass Band Association competition. Additionally, Mr. Nagel regularly volunteers his time for Christmas and Easter services.
Mr. Nagel is excited to become a new resident of San Antonio. He enjoys taking walks, exercising, and driving around to learn the city. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his cat, Rusty.
