Lani Gil -
Lani Gil is currently the Assistant Orchestra Director at Alamo Heights Junior School and has been teaching for 9 years. She has been with AHISD for 8 years and previously taught in Boerne ISD. Ms. Gil was born and raised in San Antonio and is a graduate of Winston Churchill High School. She started playing violin at age 10 through the public-school program. She is a summa cum laude graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music Education. She was awarded various prestigious scholarships including the Patti Strickel Harrison Scholarship, which covered her university cost in full due to her dedication and involvement in music. She is a Suzuki-certified teacher who runs a private studio in her home. Her private students have won many awards and had the opportunity to perform at the state level for Solo & Ensemble. Her students at AHJS have received superior ratings at UIL every year and have been featured at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts.
She performs professionally in central Texas as a soloist for weddings, ensembles and more. One of her favorite performances was at the Frost Bank Center as a part of the orchestra for Michael Bublé’s “Higher” tour in 2022. She has performed in music festivals in Italy and Bulgaria and loves to travel at any opportunity she receives. She was invited to record a teaching YouTube series for orchestra directors sponsored by D'Addario in New York City. Her professional associations include memberships in the Texas Music Educators Association, Suzuki Association of the Americas, and the Texas Orchestra Directors Association.
